Ronald A. Andrews, 78, of Fairhaven died January 1, 2019 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Arlene M. (Pimental) Andrews.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Antonio G. Andrade and Alice S. (Silva) Andrews, he was raised in Cedarville and later lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven.
He was formerly employed by as a heavy equipment operator with Campanella & Cardi and later with Lawrence Lynch until his retirement.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He enjoyed motorcycles and archery. He was an avid New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Ronald Andrews, Jr. and his companion Melissa Bray of Rockville, MD and Derrick Andrews and his wife Pathena of Chesapeake, VA; a daughter, Taunya Mendes of Clearwater, FL; a step-son, Benny Bettencourt and his fiancée Cheri of Taunton; a step-daughter, Stacey Bettencourt and her companion Jamie of Fall River; 2 sisters, Carol Fonseca and her husband Richard and Beverly A. Gonsalves, all of New Bedford; his aunt, Rose Pereira of New Bedford; several grandchildren including Briana Alyse Andrews; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, January 7th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, January 6th from 3-7 PM.
