Obituary

Wayne Stegall, 60, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, December 30, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Stegall was born August 27, 1958, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Ava Jean Brown. Along with his mother, he was raised by Hugh Smith. He grew up in Fitzgerald and left to join the service. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Stegall received his EMT training from the Intercoastal College in South Carolina. He returned to the community in 2008 after living in Detroit, Michigan for almost 40 years. Mr. Stegall was a carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished archer and held the 2nd ranking for fingers in the Tri-County area in Michigan. He was an avid animal lover and will be greatly missed by his dogs: Sugar, Rebel, Josephine, Jimmy Johnson, Rex, Box, and Cinnamon and his cat, Buttercup. He attended CFI in Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Annetta Guyer Stegall of Fitzgerald and friends: Stanley & Jackie Hutchinson of Fitzgerald and Gray & Jacquline Hutchinson of Fitzgerald. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Stegall.
