Dorothy E. Deshler
Former Longtime Tewksbury Resident


ROCHESTER, NH: Dorothy E. (McNeice) Deshler, age 87, of Rochester, NH, passed away at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of George R. “Mike” Deshler, with whom she celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2018.

Born in Cambridge, on March 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David McNeice and the late Gertrude (Flewelling) McNeice. Dorothy was the sister of the late Shirley Dyer and Thomas McNeice.

Dorothy was raised in Cambridge, attended Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin. She and her husband resided in Tewksbury for many years, where they raised their five children.
Dorothy was a former member of the Tewksbury Volunteer Fire Department, and worked at Photon/Itek as well as Pella Windows. In 2004, she moved to Rochester, NH where she participated in the Foster Grandparent Program in 2007, at the McClelland School. Dorothy enjoyed watching sports, reading, visiting the beach, and being surrounded by her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Linda Deshler Burks of Rochester, NH, Michael Deshler and his wife Teresa, Richard Deshler and his wife MaryAnn, all of Tewksbury, MA, Jean Casazza and her husband William, and Joan Shufelt and her husband Mark, all of Salem, NH; ten grandchildren, Michael Deshler Jr., his wife Carolynn, and two children Coralee and Quinnlan, Bryan Deshler, his wife Lindsay, and their child Delia, and Tyler Deshler, Nicole and Jonathan Deshler, Stephen, Jill, and Gregg Casazza, and Allison and Sarah Shufelt.


Relatives and friends will be received from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, at Famer and Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, MA immediately followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home. The family invites you to join them for a gathering at the US Bunting & Cricket Club, 449 Boylston St., Lowell, MA following the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Dorothy Deshler at P.O Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
