James F. Dockery, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old.
James was a United States Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict and retired Sr. Firefighter for 35 years for the Malden Fire Department.
James was the beloved husband of 64 years to Margaret “Ginny” (Martell) Dockery. He was the loving father of James A. Dockery and his wife Joan of Tewksbury, Thomas E. Dockery and his wife Georgiann of Colchester, VT, Stephen J. Dockery and his wife Julie of Exeter, NH, and Patricia Selfridge and her husband Robert of Malden. James was the dear brother of William Dockery and the late Mary Fanning, John and Edward Dockery, and Ronald Broderick. He was the cherished grandfather of James, Brian, Christopher, Thomas, Neil, Erin, and Keri Dockery, Amanda Yanovitch, Cameron and Robert Selfridge, and the late Vivian Dockery. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday January 4th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
