Obituary

Jane F. Ahern, 70, of Abington, Massachusetts died peacefully at South Shore Hospital on December 26th surrounded by her family.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948, she was raised in North Weymouth by the late Nicholas Horrigan and Mary (Hefferan) Horrigan.

Jane graduated from Massasoit Community College with her Associates Degree in Accounting and continued her education at Bridgewater State University. She worked for Tedeschi Food Shops as an Accountant for many years.

Jane had a passion for cooking and loved to travel with her devoted husband of 50 years (the love of her life) Richard F. Ahern.

In addition to her husband Richard, Jane leaves behind a son, Richard Ahern of Lakeville and his sons Tyler and Chase, and a daughter, Meghan Morton and her husband Geoffrey of Pembroke and their sons Mason and Max. Jane was one of seven children and is survived by a sister, Diane Fries and her husband Donald of Falmouth; as well as her brothers, Nicholas Horrigan and his wife Ann of Plymouth, Paul Horrigan and his wife Lynn of Raynham, Richard Horrigan and his wife Jeanne of Plymouth and Leo Horrigan and his wife Margery of Baltimore, MD. She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Ann Horrigan of Marshfield. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as long time dear friends Patricia and Bernard Barrows of Quincy.

Her services will be held Monday December 31 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 30 from 4:00-7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations in Jane’s memory can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
