Obituary

Guadalupe Guerrero Ordonio, of Mystic, passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, eight days after celebrating her 81st birthday.

Guadalupe was born to Nelda Rivera Guerrero and Rofino Guerrero in Bani, Pangasian, The Phillipine Islands, on December 12th, 1924. She married Macario Ordonio on September 10, 1956 in Bani, where she was a high school teacher.

In 1957, they moved to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where Macario was serving as a submariner in the United States Navy. They moved to Connecticut in 1970, where they raised two daughters and a son. Guadalupe was also a nurse’s aide for 17 years at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.

In later years, her love of knowledge and education was passed on to the many grandchildren she helped raise in her home in Mystic, where she loved to cook, craft, and work in her garden.

Her smile, strong will, and creative spirit will be greatly missed by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Macario; her daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Timothy Atherton of Gales Ferry; daughter and son in law, Grace and Steve Jensen of Hadlyme, son Marcario Jr. of Mystic; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer 22; Cheyenne 21; Timothy Jr. 19; Lauren 18; Stephanie 17; Brandon 10; Casey 7. She was predeceased by two sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick Church, East Main Street, Mystic on Friday at 11am. Fr. Charles A. McGrail, Pastor will celebrate. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
