Gertrude "Trudy" E. Goetting, 89, of the Briarwood Community in Worcester, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Reverend Paul F. Goetting and a brother Frederick Riedl. She leaves five children- Stephen Goetting, Christiana Goetting Briggs, Elizabeth Goetting, Mary Goetting, and Andrew Goetting; their five spouses; a brother Edward Riedl; 10 grandchildren; and many close friends.
Trudy was born in Chicago, IL, daughter of Jordan and Marie (Schober) Riedl. She received her Nursing Degree at Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago and her Bachelor's in Nursing at St. Louis University. Trudy was dedicated in her professional career to the prenatal and postpartum care of mothers and children, co-founding with her dear friend Nancy Cooksey 'Parent and Child of St. Louis'. She spent over two decades serving with her husband, Paul, in mission roles around the world- India, Afghanistan, Egypt, Ghana, and Slovakia. Trudy also served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India and as a Stephen Minister providing lay care ministry to people in need. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Worcester, MA.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bread for the World or Notre Dame Hospice, Worcester.
