Oakland - Helen Allen Jones, age 87, of Oakland, MS died peacefully Sunday, December 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 17, 1931 in Memphis TN, to the late Joel Austin and Mae Houzlow Allen. Helen retired as an auditor for Borg Warner. She loved traveling, animals of all kinds, flowers westerns, but most of all spending time with her family. She was a founding member of the First Assembly of God Church in Water Valley where she served until her illness.
Visitation is planned for Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Keith Burney and Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Billy Poyner, Jeff Brown, Chad Brown, Michael Allen, Nelson Allen, and Randy Blanchard all serving as pallbearers.
Helen is survived by one daughter, April Holliman (Mickey) of Carrollton, MS; two brothers, Gene Allen (Erika) of Ridgecrest, CA, and Vernon Allen (Bessie) of Grenada, MS; two sisters, Sybol Ingram (Gerald) and Mildred Brown (Lane) all of Senatobia, MS; as well as 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fitzhugh Lee Jones, Jr; one daughter, Pamela Joy Jones; one son Allen Wayne Jones; three brothers, Joel Allen, Jr., Robert Allen, and James Wallace Allen; and one sister, Mary Kathryn Blanchard.
The family would like to acknowledge her guardian angels, Wanda Smith, Lurin Campbell, Teresa Kilgore, Chasity Davis, Jackie Box, Bro. Phillip Cook and the entire Sta-Home Hospice family.
