Michael S. O’Rourke, 62, of Whitman, Massachusetts died on December 23, 2018 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts due to a long term illness.
He was born on May 26, 1956 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Barbara (Staples) O’Rourke and the late Francis O’Rourke of Whitman.
He spent 25 years as an Auto Appraiser for Hanover Insurance. He graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Class of 1974.
In his early years he would spend summers down in Eastham with his friends and family perhaps leading to one of his favorite pastimes which was salt water fishing on the Cape Cod Canal and Martha’s Vineyard. He lived his whole life in the small town of Whitman, Massachusetts.
He leaves behind two children, Ryan O’Rourke, his wife Lauren O’Rourke, and their two children Evan (9) and Emma (2) of Whitman and his daughter, Meagan McPherson and her significant other Michael Kirschner of Whitman, and Meagan’s son Colton (5). He is also survived by his mother, Barbara (Staples) O’Rourke of Whitman, and his three siblings and their spouses, sister Patricia (O’Rourke) Lupton and James Lupton of East Wareham, brother Francis X. O’Rourke and Beverly O’Rourke of East Bridgewater, and sister Tara (O’Rourke) Vincent and Glenn Vincent of Hanson. He also is survived by many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visiting hours will be Friday January 4th from 4pm to 7pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman followed by a funeral service at 7:00PM.
