Robert H. Bump

CHELMSFORD: Robert H. Bump, age 96, a resident of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Lowell, passed away in
Chelmsford MA on Monday, December 17, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Anne E. (Petersen) Bump for 61 years, who passed away on November 2, 2012.
Born in Wassaic, NY on February 23, 1922, he was one of nine children of the late William A. and Louise S. (Michaels) Bump.
Robert was raised in Lowell, and attended Lowell public schools. He worked on the family farm and the Atlantic Rayon Company before becoming a Welder at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
He served in the U.S. Army World War II post occupation forces. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service.
He was employed as a Welder at the (AMMRC) Watertown Arsenal and at Cavelier Welding in Acton MA.
Mr. Bump took pride in raising five children in Lowell prior to retiring with Anne to Port Charlotte, FL
He enjoyed golf, gardening and home improvement projects always keeping busy.
Mr. Bump is survived by his children, Nancy J. Bump of Lowell, Robert P. Bump and his wife Darlene of Tewksbury, Sue Gingrich and her husband John of Eden UT, Carol Cooper and her husband John of Billerica, and William D. Bump and his wife Linda of Lowell; three grandchildren, Ryan Bump, Emily and Michael Gingrich; two great grandchildren, Mason and Henry Bump; also many nieces, nephews.
Mr. Bump was the brother of the late Gertrude Evans, Louise Boyd Rivet, Dorothy Zimmer, Irene LaPort, Walter, Charlie, Orrin, and William.
Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Calling Hours on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by his Memorial Prayer Service to be held at the funeral home. In
lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852.
