Shirley A. Janes, age 84, of Burlington formerly of Woburn and Cambridge, passed away peacefully at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, December 19, 2018. Born in Cambridge she was the daughter of the late George A. and Margaret M. (Callahan) Janes.
Shirley was raised and educated in Cambridge and throughout her life she loved to spend time in Cambridge especially in the Harvard Square area. Devoted to family, Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts. She also loved traveling and spending time in Vermont with family and friends and attending different theatre productions.
Shirley is survived by her children; Carol A. Woods and her husband George of Billerica, Edward Raposo and his wife Diane of Wakefield, Margaret Dobie and her husband Kenneth of Salem, Susan Shipka and her husband Donald of Burlington, and the late Manuel J. Raposo. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sister of Noreen Hanafin and her husband Richard of Burlington, George Janes of Dracut, Margaret Messinger of Texas, Edward Janes of Cambridge and Helen Parker of Woburn and is further survived by her dear cousins Barbara Fitzgerald and Douglas Anderson.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather for calling hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday, December 28th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a prayer service starting at 12 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
