Dolores "Lolly" (Senna) Gomes, 85, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday December 18, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Marcelino J. "Charlie" Gomes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Virginia (Fernandes) Senna and Augusto Senna, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. Gomes was formerly employed as an adjudicator for the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security until her retirement.
She had been a volunteer for the New Bedford Council on Aging and was an avid New England sports fan.
She is survived by three sons, Fernando M, Gomes and James M. Gomes, both of New Bedford and Florida, and Norman M. Gomes of the Philippines; three sisters, Mary L. Senna of New Bedford, Audrey deSena of Dartmouth, and Vivian Barboza of New Bedford; two grandsons, Fernando Gomes, Jr. and Marc Gomes; a great-granddaughter, Emma Brooke Gomes; and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Charles M. Gomes, and sister of the late John Senna.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 9 AM.
