Althea “Mickey” (Stuart) Mahon, 83, of New Bedford passed away at her home on Tuesday December 4, 2018. She was the wife of the late James J. Mahon.
Born in New York City, Althea was the daughter of the late Frank Stuart and Mary (Conway) Kenney. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Roy Kenney.
Althea spent most of her married life with Jim in New Jersey until relocating to New Bedford in 2005. While residing in New Jersey, she was the director of volunteer services at Irvington General Hospital.
Althea had varied interests particularly knitting, needlepoint, and reading. She was passionate about all animals, especially her devoted companion Simon.
She is survived by her siblings, Robert Stuart and his wife Anne of Brattleboro, VT, Elizabeth O’Reilly of Plymouth, and James Stuart of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
Althea was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Stuart and brother, Anthony Stuart, as well as brother-in-law, Michael O’Reilly.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
