Robert A. Papa, 84 of Somerville, passed away Thursday, December 20th, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 84. Born and raised in Boston's West End. He was the son of the late Luciano and Josephine (Ardolino) Papa.
Robert was a natural people person he had no problems making friends. He could make friends anywhere, and had friends everywhere. He was an avid Bruins fan, he enjoyed watching as many games as he could. He enjoyed playing golf, and catching up with his childhood friends from the West End.
Robert was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Salamone) Papa. He was the devoted father of Ralph Papa and his wife Audrey of Billerica, Robert Papa and his wife Joanne of Billerica, Charlene Rossetti and her husband Kenneth of Wilmington, and Dorene Papa of Tewksbury. The loving papa of Kayla, Kevin, Thomas, Ashley, Danielle, Brittany, Anthony and Gianna. The dear brother of Raymond Papa and the late Ralph Papa, Ronald Papa, Palmy LiGiouri and Richard Papa. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and family members.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford, Friday, December 28th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
