Charles Joseph Smith Sr., 67 of Pawcatuck passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. Born in New London on May 31, 1951 he was the beloved son of the late Francis and Agnes (Maderia) Smith.
Charles worked as a brazier and pipefitter for 46 years at Electric Boat. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, spending time with his family and loved his little dog, Minnie. His co-workers looked forward to the soupy that he made each Fall. He loved giving out Lotto tickets for Christmas.
Charles will be sadly missed by his wife, Rosemarie Alberta (Parker) Smith and his children Jeremy J. Smith of Norwich, Charles J. Smith Jr. (Chooch) and his wife Jennifer of North Stonington and Agnes I. (Smith) Doyle and her husband Kevin of Indiana. He was the loving grandfather of Arielle, Layle and Jade. He also leaves his two sisters Connie Teixeira and Rebecca Mitchell and her husband Al, his two brothers Francis Smith and his wife Gail and Albert Smith and his wife Carol, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Zenaida Valentin, for her kindness and care of Charles.
The Smith family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Service will immediately follow at 11:30am at the funeral home. Attendees will be invited to say a few words about Charles.
