TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Mary B. (McEwen) Shepherd, age 84, a retired Wang employee, died peacefully in the care of her niece and the staff at Highpoint Hospice in Haverhill, on December 18, after a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife for fifty-six years of David T. Shepherd who died on September 20, 2014.
Mary was born in Carnoustie, Scotland, a daughter of the late James Bain McEwen and Mary (Wood) McEwen, and emigrated to the U.S. in 1962. She and David settled in the Bradford and Andover area, before moving to Shawsheen Street in Tewksbury in 1974, and finally to the Heatherwood Assisted Living community in Tewksbury.
She worked as a data entry clerk, and later as a secretary at Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury for over twenty-one years.
She active in the Wamesit Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star.
Mary leaves four nieces and two nephews, all in the Arbroath, Scotland area; a nephew, Robert W. Smith in Windham, NB; a niece and primary care-giver, Lynn Shaw and her husband Bill of Andover; and was predeceased by her only sister, Peggy Morrison, last January.
Memorial Visiting hours Saturday January 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts.
