Obituary

Anne Elizabeth Johnson passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the Medway Country Manor, Nursing Home in Medway, Massachusetts. Anne had suffered with the Alzheimer's disease for the past several years. Anne was born on July 24, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. At the time of her passing, Anne was predeceased by her parents James A. Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson. Anne lived as a child at 26 Trotter Court, Roxbury, Massachusetts until her family moved to Tewksbury, Massachusetts where she was raised and graduated from high school in 1966. While a student at Tewksbury High School, her father was a teacher and coach of the track team. She was a trail blazer for girls as the manager for the boy's track team. She maintained meticulous training records for the boys, who were competitive during track meets at the Boston Garden.

Anne earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance from Northeastern University and two Associate Degrees respectively from Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts and Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. She was again a trail blazer for women as she obtained an Associated Degree in Civil Engineering from Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology at a time when only a few women pursued degrees in the sciences.

Anne's passion was to live by the golden rule — to treat others as you would want to be treated - which resulted in her commitment as a Human Resource Manager for companies to include The Boston Globe, Shawmut Bank, Fleet Bank, SunLife Financial, and State Street Bank.

Anne's strong spiritual faith was evidenced by her tireless voluntary work for Christ Episcopal Church in Medway as a senior warden, vestry member, and head of the youth group. Later at All Saints' Anglican Church in Attleboro, she was head of the alter guild and a vestry member.

As a supportive daughter, Anne lived with her mother and father until their passing. Anne's mother never had a driver's license, so Anne drove her mother whenever she needed to travel. Anne's father during the last stages of his life suffered from the Alzheimer's disease. Anne cared for him until he entered Medway Country Manor where he died in 2000.

Anne was an enthusiastic fan and supporter of the New England Patriots and especially the New England Revolution. She frequently attended games with her son Michael, his wife Jodi, and grandson, Hunter. Anne was known to stand at games, cheer with gusto, and wave her fist to rally players.

Anne was an active member of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts to include financial support of the Annual Awards Gala. She was also a past president of the Association of African American Bankers in Boston.

Anne is survived by her son, Michal Johnson, Michael's wife Jodi, and their son, Hunter of Milford, Massachusetts; her brother, James A. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Litchfield, New Hampshire; and many cousins.
