Ernest "Sonny" Grigoropoulos of Medford died on Monday, December 17, at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born and raised in Boston's West End, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Malaharis) Grigoropoulos. Sonny lived for many years in Malden before marrying and settling in Medford in 1978. He was the proud author of a recently-completed memoir.
Sonny was the beloved husband of Betsy (Anastos) Grigoropoulos, and the devoted father of George Grigoropoulos and his wife Emily of Salem, New Hampshire, and Maria Nappa and her husband Bruno of Stoneham. He was the loving grandfather of Gabriella and Bruno III, and the dear brother of the late Nicholas Gregory and his surviving wife Barbara of Revere, and Leon and John Gregory. Sonny was the uncle of Nicholas Gregory Jr., and is also survived by many more loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, December 22 at 9 AM followed by a funeral service in St Constantine Church, 14 Magazine St., Cambridge at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours Friday, December 21, from 4 through 8 PM.
