Barbara I. (Gadsby) Wood, age 91, of Brockton, died December 17, 2018 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Barbara was the loving wife for 59 years of the late Robert H. Wood. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Celena M. (Ferguson) Gadsby. For many years Barbara worked as a homemaker for the elderly. She was an avid reader, loved dogs and cows, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo and bird watching.
Barbara was the mother of Alan Wood of West Springfield, Beverly Wood of Brockton, Donna Wood of Webster, Paul Wood and his wife Charlene of Middleboro, Robert Wood of Attleboro, Gary Wood and his wife Lori of Plymouth, Barbara Rice and her husband David of Brockton and the late Walter “Wally”, Richard and Dennis Wood. She is survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a sister in law Claire Smith of Marshfield. Barbara was the grandmother of the late Shawn Wood; great grandmother of the late Mariah Fuller and half sister of the late Beatrice and Evelyn Hazard.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday, December 20, 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11:30am, followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
