Englewood, FL - John Harold Benoit Jr., age 69, passed away on December 8, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born in Lowell, and raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury Schools, and lived in Tewksbury until he enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1967. He served aboard the USS Thor, and was honorably discharges as a Machinists Mate Third Class in 1970. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
John is survived by four children, Lenore Benoit, Kristine Benoit McCormack, Shannon Benoit Tanner, and John Benoit; grandchildren; great grandchildren; a nephew Raymond Francisco; a niece Jacklyn Barre; a beloved aunt, Mary Turcotte; and numerous cousins.
John was predeceased by his father, John “Jinks” Benoit; his sister, Jean Benoit; his mother Gladys Benoit; his aunt, Dorothy Benoit, who was his mother’s twin sister; and his six Benoit uncles.
Burial with Navy Honors will be held in Tewksbury Cemetery’s Veterans Lot.
