Elaine Jean Gruzesky, 70, of Olyphant, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of John B. Gruzesky. They had been married for 51 years. Elaine was a loving and devoted mother and wife and was known for her kindness and compassion to her friends and family.
Born in Peckville, to the late Joseph and Helen Fallat Beckage, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School and the IBM Computer School. She was retired from Marywood College, where she worked as an administrative assistant for over 15 years. Prior to that, she had worked at the former Olyphant Bank. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Olyphant.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Amy; son, Eric; and daughter-in-law, Erin; and granddaughters, Carli and Cassi Gruzesky; sisters, Marie Butler, Joan Stecco (Ed); and Karen Carrera; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph.
Elaine's family would like to thank Dr. Gryn and the staff at Hematology and Oncology Associates of Northeast Pennsylvania and Dr. Thomas Majernick and staff.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in SS. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery Chapel, Main Street, Peckville.
Relatives and friends may call at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service in the chapel.
