Loretta DuBois 90, of Ventura, California, passed away on December 12, 2018 in Ventura. Loretta was born in New York, New York to Eben Wares and Catherine Lyons Wares on September 23, 1928. She enjoyed the arts, history and traveling. Loretta was the owner and operator of California Discovery Tours through which she was able to share her knowledge of history while traveling the world with her clients. She participated with many organizations including the Museum of Ventura County, and the Friendship Connection.
Loretta is survived by her sons, Koert DuBois of Ventura, California and Doug DuBois of Ventura, California, her grandson Billy DuBois of Ventura, California, her nieces Christine Matchett of Santa Cruz, California, Debbie Wares of Wantagh, New York, Donna Wares of Seattle, Washington, Victoria Hurtado of Rancho Santa Margarita, California and Her Nephews Eben Wares of West Hartford, Connecticut, Harry Ashcraft of Boise, Idaho, David Stowe of Los Angeles, California and Donald Jackson of North hollywood, California. She is preceded in death by her husband James DuBois and her sisters Catherine Wares Hess, Clementine Ashcraft, and Mary Matchett, and her brothers Eben Wares, and Joe Wares. and her parents Eben Acker Wares and her mother Catherine Lyons Wares.
Loretta was a force of nature equally comfortable hiking Death Valley and tracking down the best Hong Kong tailors to make her custom suits. Loretta reluctantly retired but never stopped planning new adventures. And big family parties. And most of all she loved bringing friends and family together.
A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at Clearwater at Riverpark , 750 Clyde River Road in Oxnard, California on December 19th at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
