Doolin, Wini, 95, of Needham, MA passed away on December 9, 2018 after a short illness.
Born in Portland, Maine Wini was the devoted wife of Bob Doolin for 43 years and served as a role model for her children Kevin Doolin and Mary Ann Scannell and their families: Angie Doolin, Erin Doolin, Conor Doolin, and Ed Scannell. She was the beloved aunt and friend to many.
Wini graduated from Deering High School where she excelled at field hockey and basketball. She was the co-captain of both teams her senior year and received a sports scholarship to college. Circumstances required her to go to work and she spent 20 years with the Boston & Maine Railroad. Wini volunteered her time at Saint Joseph’s Parish in the Women’s Guild, Parish Council, CCD office and annual Bazaar. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and baked for Rosie’s Place. Blessed with a zest for life, Bob would often describe her as someone always ready to celebrate a victory or defeat.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 1382 Highland Ave. Needham on Friday, December 21, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will be private.
