Allen C. Lewis, 91, resident of Whitman, MA died on December 10th at home following a brief illness.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1927 he was the son of the late Allan and Rita (Purdy) Lewis. Allen was raised in Watertown, MA.
He was an engineer employed by Polaroid Corporation for more than 35 years.
Allen served in the US Army during WWII. He later spent time in Florida where he earned his private aviation license.
There was nothing more important to Allen than his family. He took great pride in the house he built, where he raised his three children.
He was the husband of Marjorie (Bonvie) Lewis for 62 years. In addition to his parents, Allen was predeceased by his daughter Elaine Erdahl, and his sister Helen Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, sister Dorothea Ravanis of Woburn, MA, and brother Edward Lewis of Sudbury, MA. He leaves behind two children; son Paul Lewis of Whitman, MA, and son David Lewis and wife Joan of Easton, MA. He also leaves his son-in-law Erin Erdahl of Long Beach, CA. Allen will be remembered by his loving grandchildren Kristie Larison, Lauren Erdahl, Matthew, Erica, and Sarah Lewis, and his two great-grandchildren Karissa and Kara Erdahl.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday December 16 from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58@ the rotary) Whitman. A family burial will be private.
