SPENCER: Joseph G. Howard, Jr., 92, of Ash Street died Saturday, December 8 in the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center after a period of declining health.
His wife Alma J. (Lacaire) Howard died in 2007. He leaves three sons; Timothy J. Howard and his longtime companion Kathleen Whitcomb of Spencer, William A. Howard of Atlanta, GA and Daniel E. Howard and his wife Jody of Spencer, a daughter Nancy J. Collette and her husband Donald of Spencer, nine grandchildren; Adam Collette and his wife Michelle of Westminster, Suzy Collette and her partner Eian Lynch of Worcester, Ellen Howard of Worcester, Kelly Ferris and her husband Kyle of Hopkinton, Justin Howard and his wife Rebecca of Woodstock, GA, Patrick Howard of Spencer, Joel Howard of Quincy, Zachary Howard of Spencer and Will Howard of Atlanta, GA, three great-grandchildren; Owen, Madelyn and AJ, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother John Howard and a sister Joyce Howard.
Joseph was born in Barre, son of Joseph G. and Florence (Harty) Howard, Sr. He graduated from David Prouty High School in 1944. He served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a salesman for 45 years selling Insurance, Real Estate and Industrial Supplies retiring in 1991. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, the American Legion Post 138, the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.
Joseph was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed spending time with family. He never lost his sense of humor even during his final days.

The funeral will be held Thursday, December 13 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery will be private and at a later date. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 9:30-11:00 AM in the funeral home.
