BROOKSVILLE, FL: Daniel C. Lakin, Sr., age 79, a resident of Brooksville, FL for 15 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of 34 years to Jean L. (Hilferty) Lakin, who passed away on August 27, 1995.
Born in Somerville on July 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Walter Lakin and the late Mabel (Sullivan) Lakin.
Dan was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools.
In 1971, he and his late wife moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their four children.
Prior to his retirement in 1999, Dan worked for over 20 years for Koch Industries.
Dan is survived by his four children, Laurie Lakin of Wakefield, MA, Daniel C. Lakin, Jr. and his wife Joanne (Hatem), of Atkinson, NH, David E. Lakin and his wife Debbie, of Weeki Wachee, FL, and Andrea E. Lakin, of Londonderry, NH; his granddaughters, Breanna A. Lakin, of Lowell, MA, Sophia M. and Abigael C. Lakin, both of Atkinson, NH, and Melissa Danjou, of Salem, MA. He was the brother of Richard Lakin of Medina, OH, Joyce Norton of Fort Mill, SC, Judith Oliva of Hudson, NH, and the late Gloria (Lakin) Weymouth, Walter Lakin, Jr., and Phillip Lakin. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4- 8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11:30 a.m. for his Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
