Worcester – Paul G. Desrosiers, 90, of Worcester, died peacefully on Friday, December 7th after a brief illness.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie V. (Kelly) Desrosiers; a son, Michael Desrosiers of Worcester; three daughters, Mary Ann Sergeant of Merrimack, MA, Mary Beth Desrosiers of Worcester and Kathleen LaPorte of Milford, MA; a brother, William Desrosiers of Leicester; three grandchildren, Kara Sergeant, Will Sergeant and Nichole Desrosiers. Paul was born in Worcester, son of the late George and Alexina (Allard) Desrosiers and is also predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Robert Desrosiers.
Mr. Desrosiers is a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Paul met the former Marie Kelly while he was stationed in New Jersey. Following his discharge from the Army, they settled in Worcester, MA to raise their family. Paul worked as a clerk at the former Thom McAn distribution center and later at the UMass Medical Center, until his retirement. Paul enjoyed traveling with his family and cheering for the Boston Red Sox. When not enjoying his favorite meals at the Pickle Barrel and Val’s restaurants, he could often be found walking in his neighborhood greeting all of the neighbors with his charming smile.
Paul was a faithful communicant at Saint Peter’s Church where he could be found in the same pew every week for the 7AM Mass on Sunday. He was also a member of the Tatnuck American Legion Post #288.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 12th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Peter’s Church (Lower Church) 929 Main Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 12th from 9 to 10 in the funeral home before the funeral. Memorial contributions in memory of Paul may be made to Saint Jude’s Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
