Doris Toombs Owen, age 82, of Chase City, VA passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018. She was born March 19, 1936 in Charlotte County, VA and was the daughter of the late Marilla and Mae Fannie Toombs.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chase City, VA and a babysitter for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Marion W. Owen; granddaughter, Alexis Owen; brother, J.W. Toombs; two sisters, Edith Lacks and Grace Conner; and half-brother, Marvin Guthrie.
Doris is survived by two sons, Mark Owen and Paul Owen and wife, Tina; two daughters, Hope Franklin and husband, Todd and Melanie Ellis and husband, Dink; and ten grandchildren, David Owen and wife, Kelsey, Matthew Owen and wife, Caroline, Amillyon Owen, Alyson Franklin, Kelsey Franklin, Kristyn Owen, Cameron Owen, Josh Ellis, Zach Ellis, and Madisyn Ellis. She is also survived by three brothers, Wesley Toombs, Thomas Toombs, and Garland Toombs; two sisters, Lillie Mae Tatum and Lois Mull; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City, VA.
