Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Helen M. “Grizzy” (Faneuf) Reigner, 89, a longtime resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 1, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on September 7, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph O. and Helen F. (O’Neil) Faneuf. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Classical High School in 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was employed for 38 years as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone Company, which later became AT&T. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. Following the closure of her beloved parish, she became a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Conrad R. Reigner who was Called Home on September 13, 1993; her cherished granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Reigner who was Called Home on December 13, 1976; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Sophia Paige Reigner who was Called Home on March 3, 2012; and her two loving brothers, Joseph and Edward Faneuf. She leaves her two loving children, Diane M. Lee of Clermont, FL and John R. Reigner and his wife, Lynn, of Ludlow; her six cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Kristie Powell and her husband, Gene, Kevin Clevenshire, Daniel Reigner and his wife, Jennifer, Karyn Reigner and her companion, George, Breeana Reigner and her partner, Brandon and Christopher Reigner; her eight cherished great-grandchildren, Amber, Bailey, Jahari, her loving godson Jackson, Brayden, Kamryn, Veda, Colby and Lyanna; her two loving sisters, Joanne Nassif of West Springfield and Rose Marie Coughlin of Agawam; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Reigner and Faneuf families. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
