Dorothy was born on June 26, 1921 in Clear Lake to Victor & Anna Anderson & passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 in Stillwater. Dorothy was a proud wife to Russell for 68 years. Preceded in death by her husband Russell; son Russell Jr.; grandson Troy Brown; great granddaughter Aubree Long; sister Mary Guentzel; & brother Willard. Survived by son Michael (Beth) of Aurora, CO; daughters Nancy (Dave) Kopesky of Woodbury, Mary (John) Helland of Tallahassee, FL, & Sue El-Eid & Sarah Brown both of Oakdale; daughter-in-law Marlys Nelson of Waterloo, IA; 20 grandchildren & 24 great-grandchildren, sisters Alice Ellefson of Sauk Rapids & Betty Hemen of Aberdeen, SD; & many other relatives & friends. Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Clear Lake H.S. & a 1943 graduate of Hamline-Asbury School of Nursing. She then enlisted as an Army nurse & was a surgical nurse on Guam in 1944-45. She was discharged as a first lieutenant in December 1945. She married Russell on Thanksgiving Day in 1945. She worked in nursing for a number of years during her marriage, was a bible study fellowship leader & was active in several churches she attended over the years. She was also a member of VFW Keep-Zimmer Post 1782. Funeral Service Wednesday (12/5) 10:00 AM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, with Visitation one hour prior to Service. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Special thanks to Ecumen Hospice & the staff at The Estates at Greeley Care Center.
