Augusta, Ga.-Dr. F. Marion Durst III, 70, entered into rest Friday, November 30, 2018.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Hatfield and The Reverend Robert D. Fain officiating.
Dr. Durst was the son of the late Dr. Frank M. Durst, Jr. and Betty C. Durst. Dr. Durst was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was married for 47 years to Gayle I. Durst. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, class of 1966, Mercer University, and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, September 1973. He served in The U.S. Army and was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Eastern District Dental Society of Georgia, the Augusta Golf Association, the Augusta Country Club, the Aiken Tennis Club, and the Royal Tennis Court, Hampton Court Palace, Surrey, England. Dr. Durst and his father practiced a combined total of 92 years of Dentistry in Augusta. He was the 1989 and 2013 AGA Jamboree Champion. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter.
Other than his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa I. Durst of Augusta, Caroline D. Jones of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and his son, Frank M. Durst, IV and his wife Caroline of Brentwood, TN; his brother Edward (Anna) Durst; his sisters Caroline and Margaret Durst; his 6 grandchildren: Claeland, Clark, Hadley, Wilkes, Frank, and Knox, who affectionately referred to him as “Doc”; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Durst was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Golf Association.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday evening, December 3, 2018 at Enterprise Mill, 1450 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901
