Obituary

Ann Katherine Cowern (Meslis), 83, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from injuries sustained following a traumatic fall at home. Ann was born in Natick, MA on July 26, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph P. Meslis and Mrs. Theresa E. Meslis (Murphy).
Ann attended St.Patrick’s Parochial School in Natick, and was a graduate of Natick High School. She spent a career working retail in various capacities as well working as a model and cosmetic representative. Ann was well known for her impeccable sense of style and fashion. She raised her family as a military spouse, residing in Germany, California, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia prior to settling in California. Ann returned to her New England roots in 1998 and resided since in Nashua, NH. Ann enjoyed time spent with her family and friends; she was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan and a New England Patriots fan having recently attended games at Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium with her sons and grandson. Ann also enjoyed cooking, reading, politics and was an advocate for animal welfare.
Mrs. Cowern leaves her four sons; Joseph M. Cowern, Michael P. Cowern, his wife Angelina, Thomas G. Cowern-Layton his husband Laurance W. Layton, and Patrick M. Cowern, his wife Vanessa. She also leaves her grandchildren, Jennifer, Kyle, Alexis, Trent, Marina, Casey Ann, and Rafael, and two great-grandchildren, Ashtyn and Kylee. Besides her parents, Ann was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon. Ann is also survived by her siblings, Jane E. Colby and Paul J. Meslis, as well as many nieces and nephews, and close lifelong friend Madeleine Bomberg.
Per her wishes there were no calling hours. Burial will be private in the family plot at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick, MA. John Everett & Sons, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA is in charge of arrangements.
