McCORKLE, William J. (Ret. MGySgt., USMC Reserve) Of Dedham formerly of Dorchester, November 27, 2018. Beloved husband of 54 years to Sheila A. (Flynn) McCorkle. Devoted father of Maryann Vienneau and her husband Paul of Mansfield, William McCorkle and his wife Sharon of Carlsbad, CA, John McCorkle and his wife Naomi Schwartz of Weymouth, James McCorkle of Dedham, Kathryn Lepsevich and her husband Paul of Franklin, Margaret McCorkle of Needham, and Erin O’Leary and her husband Major Shawn O’Leary, NANG of Reno, NV. “PA” to Sarah, Noah, Blake, Zachery, Amanda, Brian, Emilie, and Averill.
Bill served 30 years in the USMC Reserve, and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and worked as Superintendent of Motor Equipment at the Mass. Turnpike Authority for 38 years. He was a member of the Dedham Knights of Columbus 234, the TD Garden Security Team, and was an active volunteer for Greater Boston Toys for Tots.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home Monday, Dec. 3 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45pm.
