Obituary

Edmund R. Hebert, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Alden Court Nursing Care Center in Fairhaven after a brief illness. He was the husband of Elaine R. (Morgan) Hebert to whom he was married for 51 years.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edmund J. and Millicent (Casey) Hebert, he lived in Fairhaven for many years. Ed attended New Bedford schools. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven.

He worked in building maintenance at the Brockton VA Hospital for 20 years until his retirement in 1993. Prior to that he was employed at Eastern Sportswear. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 – 1959 and in the National Guard from 1959 – 1962.

An avid reader and sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching Red Sox and Patriots games and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edmund Hebert and his wife Gina of Mattapoisett, and Bryan Pacheco of Fairhaven, as well as three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Claire Pontbriand and Doris Hebert.

His Funeral will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 8 A.M. from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt.6), Mattapoisett, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 - 7 P.M.
