Vandor, Robert J. of Canton passed away November 21st. Robert was born and brought up in Budapest and while attending university the revolution occurred and he packed a knapsack and walking at night made his way over the border and eventually to his uncle in London. He was given a scholarship to Kings College, London and completed his engineering degree. He improved his English by listening to the BBC. He met Anne at a party and they were married in 1963 and celebrated their 55th anniversary this past September. They moved to the USA and started married life in Buffalo where Robert worked for Mobil Oil in the plastics division. There were many transfers but on moving to New England Robert decided this was to be the final home. On retirement he became an AARP tax volunteer and was a state coordinator and devoted many days to this interest and was recently recognized for 29 years service of preparing taxes for seniors. Moving to Orchard Cove seven years ago Robert became a ping pong player, loved yoga and tai chi but most of all enjoyed bridge and teaching new comers the joy of the game. This when he wasn’t solving computer problems. Beloved husband of Anne E. (Kingsford).
