HELINSKI, Anita (Berkowitz) 74, of York, ME passed peacefully at the Hospice House in Lincoln, MA with her family by her side the evening of November 25, 2018. Anita was a kind and gentle soul with a zest for life, a loving heart and a great sense of humor. She was an avid traveler that never passed up a chance to see a new corner of the world. She loved art and was a talented painter and crafter. Anita adored York, ME and after many years of summering finally took up permanent residence in 2009. Over these last almost 10 years she created a community of friends and activities in York that brought her great joy and fulfillment. Above all Anita took great pride in her family. She was a devoted mother to her son Paul & his wife Crystal Helinski, her son Stanley Helinski, and her daughter Ellen Helinski & Ellen’s wife Angela Bell. She spoke with her children daily and never missed a birthday, celebration, or sadness. She had a wonderful relationship with each of her 8 grandchildren who all equally idolized their ‘Gamma’: Mendel 16 years, Yosef 16 years, Esther 14 years, Shmuel 10 years, Shalom 3 years, Yehuda 1 year, Gabrielle 10 years and Lennon 7 months. Anita’s passing will leave a void in all of our hearts.
