Cleo Bennett Sutton, 90, of Fitzgerald, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her residence in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. Friends and family will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Sutton was born October 9, 1928, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Homer Clarence & Effie Lee Houston Bennett. She grew up in Lakeland, Florida and worked in citrus packing. She moved to Fitzgerald 40 years ago. She worked as a cook at Heritage Care in Ocilla and served as a caretaker for her parents and her husband. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Judy Alston, Carol Lee Holloman, Curtis & Nellie Sutton, Rodney & Barbara Sutton and Janice & Steve Holman, all of Fitzgerald; two daughters-in-law, Georgianna Shiver and Robin Sutton, both of Fitzgerald; 24 grandchildren including her caregivers Malina & David Breyfogle; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Medders of Highland City, Florida. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Sutton; and two sons, Ernest Wayne Shiver, Jr. and Travis C. Sutton.
