Jenny Garrick, 89, of Fitzgerald passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at her residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ms. Garrick at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Steve Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 27, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Joey Garrick, Herbert Garrick, Charles Swain, Wendell Hobbs, Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Steve LaHue will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 4, 1928 in Tift County, Ms. Garrick was the daughter of the late Jacob Wesley “Jake” Garrick, Sr. and Nellie Beatrice Taylor Garrick. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jake W. Garrick Jr. and Gene O. Garrick; one niece; and one nephew. Before retiring, she was employed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton for 31 years. She was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church and loved her God, her family and her church. She was very skilled in calligraphy and made her own Christmas cards.
Ms. Garrick is survived by her sister, Mary Nell Howell of Fitzgerald; one nephew, Joey Garrick; two great-nieces; two great-great nephews; and one great-great niece.
