Frank W. Allen, 72, of Fairhaven, died Monday, November 19, 2018, at Our Lady's Haven Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitative Care in Fairhaven. He was the son of the late Winthrop D. Allen, of Detroit, MI and the late Mary Dafgard, of New Bedford, MA.
Frank was a graduate of Brandywine High School in Wilmington, DE and attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. He worked at the Dupont Company in Wilmington. Frank was an avid gardener, bike rider, fish enthusiast, and loved boating. He enjoyed traveling around the US, and had visited most of the lower 48 states. Frank had many stories of his travels, as well as a good sense of humor.
He is survived by 4 sisters: Pat, of Sandy, UT, Betsy, of Fairhaven, MA, Ann Church, of Atlanta, GA, and Marie Durham, of Landenberg, PA, as well as by 5 brothers: Winthrop, of Buffalo, NY, Joe, of Clayton, NC, Peter, of Rion-des-Landes, France, Rob, of Gastonia, NC, and Jim, of Pittsburgh, PA. He was "Uncle Frank" to numerous nieces and nephews. His only child, Tracie, of Newark, DE, predeceased him in 2011.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Our Lady's Haven for their kindness and care during the last 3 years of his life.
Frank's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. His cremated remains will be buried alongside his parents in Wilmington, DE in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady's Haven with 2nd Floor Medical in the memo line.
