Rita (King) Donahue, 94, and a lifelong resident of Watertown, passed away peacefully on November 17 in the company of her daughters, Diana Donahue of Cambridge and Paula Fasick of Bellingham. She also leaves her most beloved grandson Jeffrey DeFlavio of Brooklyn, NY, her son-in-law Jon Fasick, her sister Sylvia Whitney of Watertown, her devoted niece Jackie Whitney Halas of Fairfield, CT and Jackie’s daughters Christie and Hayley Musket. She was predeceased by her siblings Herbert (and Edith) King, Flora (and Russell) Joyce, Rose (and Newton) Reed, Beatrice (and Larry) Ingham, William (and Margaret) King, and brother-in-law Robert Whitney.
Rita was born to Annie (Daniels) and William King and was married to the late Paul F. Donahue whom she met playing golf at Fresh Pond in Cambridge. She was the seventh of eight children, attended Burdett Secretarial School and worked for many years at Achorn Steel Company in Cambridge, retiring as treasurer.
Gardening, being at the beach with her sisters, and spending time with her daughters and grandson Jeffrey were her happiest times.
Rita was known throughout her life for her kindness and generosity. Services will be private and she will be laid to rest at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
