Walter A. Oberle, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly, November 16, 2018, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. He was 93 years of age. Walter was the beloved husband of Constance "Connie" (Nofry) Oberle. Born and raised in New York he was the son of the late Anthony and Amelia (Reiter) Oberle.
Walter was a proud United States Army Veteran of WWII. He enlisted into the Army at the age of 18 and honorably served overseas in Germany, France, Belgium, and England until his discharge from active duty in 1946.
Once married Walter and Connie settled in Woburn where together they raised their family. Walter worked for many years as a salesperson in the Janitorial supply industry. Walter was a man strong in his faith and for many years was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer here in Woburn. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing and working around his home and in his garden. Walter will fondly be remembered for his devotion to his family and will be truly missed by those he loved.
In addition to his beloved wife, Connie, Walter is survived by his daughters, Dianne Oberle of Reading, Karen Doherty and her husband Jim of Reading. He is sadly predeceased by his son the late Mark Addison Oberle. He was the loving grandfather of Nicole and Collin Doherty, both of Reading and brother of the late Frances Thurman.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather for calling hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, November 27th, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 28th, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 60 Forest Park, WOBURN, at 10:30 a.m. (those attending please gather directly at the church).
