CRONIN- Of Chelsea, December 15th, James E., Sr. Devoted husband of Marie M. (Wendeborn). Beloved father of James E. Cronin, Jr. and his wife Linda of Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of Jaime Cronin of Winthrop. Dear and loving brother of Irene Dalton of Peabody and the late Frank, Harold and John Cronin, Mae Shea, Margaret Cronin, Helen Noonan, Gertrude Hynes, Agnes Welsh and Anna Hayden. Lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Wednesday morning, December 21st at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Braodway, Chelsea at 9 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
A member of a longtime and well known Chelsea family, Jim, at 80 years of age, passed away after a short illness at the Govenor Winthrop Nursing Home in Winthrop, where he had been a resident for less then a month.
Born and raised in Chelsea, Jim was a lifelong resident of Chelsea until 3 years ago when he and his wife Marie moved to Winthrop. An employee of the City of Chelsea Water Department, he retired in 1991 after 41 years to the community.
