Helen M. (Smith) DiMarzio, age 88, of Brockton, died November 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Helen was the loving wife of the late Livio “Leo” DiMarzio. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Butkewicz) Smith. She attended Brockton schools and was a 1949 graduate of Brockton High School. For many years, Helen worked at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton as an LPN. After graduating from Massasoit School of Nursing and fulfilling her dream of becoming an RN, she worked for many years at the Brockton VA Hospital and retired in 1995. Helen enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren in their younger years.
Helen was the mother of David DiMarzio, Philip DiMarzio, Jan Foley and the late Paul DiMarzio; grandmother of Matthew and Olivia Foley of Bridgewater, Jeffrey DiMarzio and Jennifer Cathcart of Georgia and Ariane DiMarzio of Stoughton. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, a sister Lorraine D’Angelo of Sharon and many nieces and nephews. Helen was the sister of the late Edna Sadoski, Alfreda Comlin, Arlene LaPrade, Wanda Mastropietro and Michael, Edward, Alfred and Henry Smith.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday, November 23, 4-7pm. Private family services will be held Saturday with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
