Shirley Ann Irby, age 76, entered into rest on November 18, 2018 at her home in Prosser. She was born to Clifford Louis and Eleanora Maxine (Powell) Mount on September 5, 1942 in Prosser, Washington, where she was raised, educated and lived her entire life. Shirley and Sammie Joe Irby were married in March of 1960.
Over the years, Shirley worked at Walnut Grove Nursing Home as a cook, Perham Fruit in Grandview, Holtzinger Fruit in Prosser and retired in 1982. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and had Bible study with friends every Thursday at her home.
Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking, cake decorating and her rose garden. Most of all she loved family get-togethers.
Shirley is survived by her beloved dog, Hershey; her children, Debbie (Keith), Randy (Coleen), Ron (Tracy), Tammy and Don; her grandchildren, Jamie, Derrick (Sarah), Kyle (Josie), Heidi (Val), Tyler (Amanda), Jimmy, Nathan, Amanda (Jacob) Ashley, Sarah, Haley and Brian; her great-grandchildren, Shailyn, Jordan, Logan, Dacotta, Noah, Skyla, Devin, Colby, Autumn, Kade, Thomas, Phoenix, Faith, Colton, Kennedy, Lynzee, Jaxon, Deklyn, Taylor, Jr., Aliya, Treston, and Samantha.. She is also survived by her brothers, Gary “Bud” Mount (Janet). Mike Mount and Tony Mount (Andrea); her sister, Joanne Schneider (Dave); brother-in-law, Jay Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Sammie on August 30, 2015; her sisters, Dorothy Mount, Carol Hyde (Tom) and Linda Griffin; brother, Morris Mount; son-in-law, Jim Leighty; and daughter-in-law, Molli Irby.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Prosser Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 29th at Bethel Church in Prosser. Concluding services and burial will be held at the Prosser Cemetery with a potluck to follow at Bethel Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s/Dementia Research.
