LEXINGTON: Norma Laurenzi, 61, formerly of Wayland died at her residence on November 16, 2018.
Beloved daughter of Elise A. (Arcomano) Laurenzi of Wayland and the late Gustave A. Laurenzi, MD who died on November 9, 2016.
Loving sister of Laurence D. Laurenzi and his wife Diane Laurenzi of Lexington. Cherished aunt of Erica E. Laurenzi and James J. Laurenzi both of Lexington.
Ms. Laurenzi was known for her intellect, passion and deep empathy for others, as well as her prolific poetry dedicated to shining light on the struggles of the homeless and underprivileged population that lived and died on the streets of Boston. She was a dedicated and gifted outreach professional who spent 20 years of her life working on the men’s and women’s units at the Pine Street Inn, assisting and counseling those in need, and cataloguing their plight with her award-winning photography. She will be remembered for her dedication to those less fortunate and her perennial compassion for all she came in contact with.
Ms. Laurenzi graduated from Dana Hall School in Wellesley and subsequently received her B.A. from Wellesley College cum laude, with departmental honors in English. She was the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Prize, the Massachusetts Shelter Providers Association and Bostons Emergency Shelter Commission’s commonWORK Award for her enduring service to the residents of the Pine Street Inn. She participated in numerous poetry competitions at Mount Holyoke College and within the city of Boston.
Visitations will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Private family services and interment with her late father, Gustave A. Laurenzi, MD will be at North Cemetery in Wayland.
