GERALDINE MILSTEIN
GROTON- Geraldine Camiel Milstein, of Groton, formerly of Elmont, NY, died Thursday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center.
Mrs. Milstein was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 10, 1911 the daughter of Bernhard and Clara (Koch) Camiel. Raised in New York, she was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and later continued her education at Brooklyn College.
She was employed as Senior Personnel Clerk at Union Free School District #16 in Elmont, NY for 22 years before retiring in 1981.
Her husband, David Milstein died in December, 1958. Known for her sense of humor, spirited personality, and sense of personal style, she enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Milstein is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Ilo Milstein of Pound Ridge, NY and Frances C. and Howard Poris of Ledyard; her grandchildren, Max Poris of Los Angeles, CA, and Kate Poris of Portsmouth, NH. She was predeceased by her siblings, Sam, Harriet, Rose, and her twin brother Morty.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday at 1:30pm. There are no visiting hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center Resident Council Fund, 28 Broadway, Mystic CT 06355.
