Born in Syracuse, New York, Mrs. Robb spent her early years living in New York, Massachusetts, West Virginia and Ohio as her family followed her father’s career with the American Red Cross. She even assisted with various Red Cross endeavors from blood drives to disaster relief.
After graduating from Thomas A. DeVilbiss high school in Toledo, OH she worked her way through the University of Toledo to earn a degree in education. While teaching Physical Education in Toledo, she met and married her husband and shortly thereafter they began their family. The couple and their six children settled permanently in Andover in 1975. Shortly after that, Mrs. Robb began what would become a long career in Aquatic Education. She spent several years as the manager of Pomp’s Pond where she and her lifeguards received a Red Cross citation from President Ronald Reagan for their successful rescue of a drowning swimmer. Mrs. Robb was also a valuable member of the Andover/North Andover YMCA community. She was initially a volunteer swim instructor and eventually became an employee. In fact, she was still teaching swimming lessons until shortly before her passing.
What Mrs. Robb is remembered for most is her generosity of spirit. Everyone was welcome in her heart and home and her children’s friends became her children as well.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, MA on Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00 AM.
Visitation will be held at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover MA on Monday, November 19th from 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Merrimack Valley YMCA Camping Services.
The family would like to thank Merrimack Valley Hospice for their loving care in the last weeks of her life.
