Maria Celeste Silva Germano, 81, of New Bedford passed away at home on Wednesday November 14, 2018.
Born in Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verde, she was the daughter of the lae Antonio Miguel Germano and Ana Maria Silva Pimentel Germano.
Ms. Germano held the profession of educator while living in Cabo Verde. After moving to New Bedford in 1978, she worked in the bilingual education program with the New Bedford School Department. She later worked as an accounting clerk for the Town of Acushnet until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading and watching PBS television, especially Audubon and wildlife programming. She traveled all over the world visiting family and friends.
Celeste was a source of inspiration for her nieces, with her adventurous spirit, her sense of style, and for always being fun and interesting. She was loved dearly by her family. She will be fondly remembered and missed.
She is survived by her brothers, Gladstone Silva Germano of Cacem, Portugal, Antonio Silva Germano of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Carlos Alberto Silva Germano; her uncle, Joseph P. Silva of New Bedford; her sisters-in-law, Naly Soares of Randolph and Lucilia Germano of Cacem, Portugal; her special Godchild and niece, Gisela Germano-Riess of Canton; her nieces, Sao St. Aubyn of London, England and Leila St. Aubyn of San Diego, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins worldwide.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Ana Silva Germano, May St. Aubyn, Olivia St. Aubyn, Luis Gonzaga St. Aubyn, Carlos Silva St. Aubyn, Jose Silva Germano, and Alberto Germano.
