Middletown, RI – Helen L. (Ward) Moore, 90, of Round Pond Road, Little Compton, RI died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Grand Islander after a short illness. She was the widow of Edwin T. Moore.
She was born in Milford, MA, daughter of the late Frank I. And Josephine “Dot” (Schmitthenner) Ward, and had lived in Hopedale, MA until her retirement in 1975 and moving to where she had summered since her childhood in Sakonnet Point. Prior to her retirement she was a straw operator for Kartergainers Hat Shop in Milford, MA and Upton, MA. She was a member of the Little Compton United Congregational Church, Little Compton. Mrs. Moore was an avid knitter, who made childred sweaters for the knitting table for the Ladies Aides Society at the Little Compton United Congregational Church. She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary of Woonsocket, RI and did duty aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Eagle during the America’s Cup races in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She enjoyed sailing, traveling and reading.
She is survived by a daughter: Muriel L. “Skeeta” Colthart of Dennisport, MA; a son: Thomas I. Moore of Littleton, MA; and 2 grandchildren.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Little Compton United Congregational Church, Little Compton, RI.
