Ernest E. Lorenz

CONCORD, NH: Ernest E. “Ernie” Lorenz, age 88, a Penacook, NH resident for the past 6 years, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, Melrose, Medford, and Malden, passed away at the Concord Regional Hospice House on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Gibbons) Lorenz, who passed away on April 6, 2013.
Born in Lawrence on February 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Earlden F. Lorenz and the late Evelyn A. (Hudson) Lorenz.
Ernie was raised in Lawrence, attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1947.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 347th T. HQ Company. Ernie was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Japan) for his active duty service.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he worked as a custodian for the City of Medford for 18 years. Ernie previously worked for Hudson Bus Lines in Medford.
In 1988, he and his late wife moved to Tewksbury. While living in Tewksbury, he was an active member and past president of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-in-Center. In addition, he was a former member of the Tewksbury Rod & Gun Club, and organist and member of the Tewksbury Elks # 2070.
A talented organ, keyboard, and clarinet musician, Ernie was one of the founding members of the “Silvertones”, a band which continues to entertain the Tewksbury senior community to this day.
Ernie was the father of William K. Lorenz of Bow, NH and Linda A. Vignault of Lowell. Grandfather of Adam Vignault, Trisha Vignault-Burns, and Conner Lorenz. Brother of Gary Harding of Chester, NH. He also leaves 4 great grandchildren, and many extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury for his memorial graveside service. Per Ernie’s wishes there are No Calling Hours. Donations in his memory may be made to Friends of the Elderly and mailed to Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
